How to apply

We offer rent-free furnished accommodation to writers who wish to come to Dunedin (usually for periods of four weeks to six months) to undertake writing projects.

We're currently looking for writers for periods between August 2024 and early January 2025 (length of stay can vary). Applications close 27 November 2023. 

If you'd like to be considered for a residency, please email Murray Lynch at director@playmarket.org.nz and include the following information:

• your writing curriculum vitae 
• an outline of the writing projects you plan to work on
• your preferred dates for a residency and whether you have flexibility
• your reasons for wanting to take up a residency in Dunedin.
